The Power of Social Networking

Business blog, Women on Business, put out a question for member Hairzing. The gist of the story is that Hairzing has a competitor that is causing them grief by undercutting their prices. The other company can do this because the quality isn’t as good (according to the blog) and they don’t support the educational practices that Hairzing does. Of course, many of us support the competitor when we shop only by price and don’t look at the whole equation.

They were looking a way to get the word out about their company and what it stood for. Many women entrepreneurs have the same problem. In a world run by price, where economic fear runs rampant, it’s difficult to hold to ideals and do what we believe is right. Yet, we must do that or lose our integrity and our power as women. We are much more aware of the web of the world. Everything is connected in some way or another. When we make a product purchase, whatever it is, we affect a long chain, from the oil or wood used to create the object, to the lives of the people creating and selling it.

Social networking is a boon to us as women entrepreneurs. We can get beyond price and into the spirit of relationship. If you haven’t created your Facebook page, or learned about Twitter, take time today to start exploring. Find out what people are talking about and contribute to the discussion. Let’s not make the economy only about the banks, but let’s find a way to reshape our world where all things are possible — even saving the environment.
