How to Incorporate Your Woman-Owned Small Business

This is the continuation of the interview with Nellie Akalp, CEO of CorpNet.com.

What’s the best form of corporation for a solopreneur?–

The Sole Proprietorship is the simplest form of business entity. However, without the protection of a corporate shield, personal assets are exposed to business liabilities.  And, even where a small business owner doesn’t have assets today, a judgment against that business owner can last up to 22 years. Therefore, in light of how easy and inexpensive it is to incorporate or form an LLC online today, the two structures that most solopreneur go with is the LLC or the S Corp.

What benefits does using Corpnet.com give the woman entrepreneur?–

Corpnet.com provides business filing services required for a variety of business needs such as forming a Corporation or Limited Liability Company (LLC), filing a DBA/Fictitious Business Name, Trademark Search and Registration services, and much more across all 50 states.  We give women entrepreneurs the peace of mind that when they come to us in starting a business, we will take care of all the filing and paper work and leg work at a fraction of the price of what an attorney charges them so they can do what they do best, focus on growing their business and let us worry about doing all the leg work for them.  Through our stellar customer service, we ensure stress-free success from beginning to end as YOUR Business is OUR Priority!

What will it cost me to incorporate using Corpnet.com—

You can incorporate a business or form an LLC in any state starting from just $49 plus state fees. This is our basic incorporation package and we do offer a deluxe and a complete so if one was to get an all-inclusive package from us for any state, they can still get their business off the ground for under a couple of hundred dollars.

While there are more women entrepreneurs than ever before, they still aren’t making the money that men make. What are your thoughts on why women-owned businesses have a lower average income than men-owned businesses?

I wrote a post for Mashable about women entrepreneurs in the workforce recently that discussed a similar topic. The post got a lot of buzz from both men and women sharing their thoughts on who makes a better entrepreneur. Basically the fact that women have a lower average income than men shouldn’t be the focus of too much conversation. The focus should be the rise that is happening with women in the workforce and as entrepreneurs. We are rising to the top and will continue to do so – and along with that will come the higher income. It’s only a matter of time.

Anything else you’d like to share with us regarding CorpNet?

Yes I would like to share that my company, Corpnet.com,  is not some big, anonymous corporation with nothing but automated e-mails and recorded voice messages. We’re a small business helping small businesses. We are a team of real people who are on the phone all day talking with entrepreneurs in their journey to success. I want everyone to really understand that when you work with us, you are working with a real person and a real small business.  I take great pride in that as do other small business owners across America.
